The Learn to Earn Program (LTE), administered by Groundwork NRG, provides a means for young people in the northeast and east-midtown areas of Kansas City, Kanas, ages 12-16, to receive environmental and conservation training, workforce development and career preparation.

Summer Program: LTE Summer operates half-days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, from Noon to 4 PM, for six weeks, June 20, 2023 thru July 26, 2023. During class time, students will undergo environmental assessment, train in literary and arts skills, train in team work exercises and proper ways to assess mental and physical health issues, as well as learning proper business etiquette, and undergo other goal-mapping and soft skill development to prepare them for their future career paths. Youth will receive presentations by local community guest speakers from the environmental, conservation and business industries. They will also receive lessons from a financial literacy curriculum that is focused and grounded in real world skills. Non class time will be spent working on creative projects that will be recorded or published by the end of the six weeks. Students who successfully complete the entire six-week program and attend the graduation ceremony, will receive a $300 stipend for their participation in the program.

Applicants must live within the following boundaries: The River on the North East, Nebraska Avenue on the South to 18th Street, then Minnesota Avenue to I-635 on the West.
