Seeking paid Community Ambassadors to assist in Heritage Trail Project

Groundwork NRG and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS are working with planning consultant COLLABO to create a NE KCK Heritage Trail that integrates land use, green infrastructure, and job access, with expanded transportation options, participatory community planning, and NE KCK’s rich cultural history.

As part of the engagement process, COLLABO is looking to identify five Community Ambassadors who are current residents of NE KCK to assist the planning team and to serve on the project Steering Committee. Ambassadors would be provided a stipend of $400 / month between September 2021 - April 2022 for their participation in helping to create the Plan. Ambassadors are expected to contribute approximately 20 hours of work a month. The Community Ambassadors will be required to:

  • Have access to transportation and internet /email access

  • Attend and help lead 3 larger Community Meetings

  • Help to canvas their neighborhood and hold smaller conversations with residents

  • Participate in weekly team conference calls and meetings (every other Friday from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm)

  • Participate in approximately 5 meetings of the project Steering Committee

  • Provide their ideas and input throughout the process

  • Assist in developing early action projects, to be identified through community engagement

The Community Ambassador must have excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to work with a variety of people. This is a great opportunity to learn about heritage planning, infrastructure, and community outreach.
